I'm not sure whether to count my move from Saturday, the day I clear out of my apartment here, or from the 27th, when I arrive in back in Ottawa...or even from the 5th of January when I actually get to move into my new apartment!
I'll take Saturday, as it's the closest. Only five more days!!! Tonia's arriving on a jet plane and then she and I and her sister Shana (crammed into the back seat with her little dog in a crate) will be off to Amherst for Christmas.
For now the weather is looking good for the drive to Amherst and beyond. Temps will be increasing to 5 or 6 C with no precipitation over Christmas and Boxing Day in the Amherst area, which will give us a good start. Quebec City might be getting some snow on Boxing Day, so we'll have to watch out for that. Might be a bit of snow into Ottawa too. As the temp looks like it'll be hovering around the freezing point, we'll have to keep a close eye on the forecasts. Wouldn't want to get caught in any freezing rain! That'd be just my luck. Oh well, I can think of worse things than being stuck in a hotel room in Riviere-du-Loup with one of my best friends for a couple of days!
So far I've got myself about half-packed, both at home and at the office. There's frighteningly little to pack! Seems like I sent a lot more stuff here in January than I'm taking back somehow. Even though I acquired quite a few things while I was here. That's okay. Less stuff to worry about. Those space bags mum loaned me are great. I've got three or four of them stowed in my trunk already and they take up hardly any room at all. I was worried about all the stuff I wanted to fit in my car, but I think it'll be okay. The office chair might be awkward, and if the toaster-oven and floor fan don't want to fit, I'll leave them behind. They were super cheap and I won't really need them in Ottawa.
And I finally managed to get a cleaning service to come in! What a relief. I should be able to do it myself, but with all the fuss I'll be going through, and my bad back on top of it, I didn't want to risk doing the heavy stuff myself. Problem is, the cleaners are coming at 1:00, which means I need to get all my stuff out of there before that. I'll have to arrange to have the courier pick up the boxes in the morning, and that means I'll be busy on Thursday night doing my final packing, which I'd planned to do on Friday. Oh well. I guess I'll be sitting around with no stuff for a couple of days! Thank god for Internet! I won't even have that after 2pm or so on Saturday. Maybe I should download a couple of movies to watch after my internet shuts off. Hmmm...naughty naughty. I've never downloaded movies before.
Coming to work every day this week is going to be a real pain in the ass. There's nothing left to do! I can tweak my presentation, but not till Scott gets back to me about it. I come in around 9:15 every day lately, and leave anytime after 3:00. Tsk tsk, eh? I hope no one notices. Doesn't really matter if they do. There's nothing for me to do here even if I do stay.
*sigh* Oh, the life of The Waiting.
