Weather Bomb

So, I've been here less than a week, and I'm about to experience one of those major winter storms they told me about before I moved here. They're calling it a "weather bomb" on TV. Rather a forboding way to describe it, eh? It's referred to as a Nor'Easter around here. Not sure why...it's coming fromt he southwest. Here's a picture of it...

Looks more like a weather fist to me...just like some big bully winding up to give us a good sound wolloping. And that's just what's going to happen, if forcasts are right. The animated version of this image almost looks like a hurricane forming, it's spiralling around counter-clockwise and that thick part that's along the righthand flank is probably what's going to hit us during the night.

They're predicting up to a foot of snow in Halifax. People in the Halifax chat room are talking about a snow day tomorrow. I guess things pretty much grind to a halt here when it snows bad enough. That'll be interesting. I guess I should keep an ear to the radio to find out if it's worth trying to get to work tomorrow.

At the moment, it's calm outside. There was some snow...almost-but-not-quite sleet that stung when it hit your face...around 2:30 this afternoon, but it didn't last. The wind was kicking up pretty bad around then too, but it also seems to have backed off for now. I hear we could get gusts up to 90kph...that's pretty bad wind. Glad I'm all cozied up here at home and don't have to go out tonight. One positive aspect...the temperature's going to start rising right after the storm (it's going up to +9 for god's sake! What kind of winter IS this??) and by Friday all the snow will have been rinsed away by the rain they're forecasting.

I'll report back when there's actually something to talk about lol
