Celebrity Apprentice - I coulda been a contender!

Yeah, what can I say...I like reality shows. Not all of them. I won't watch those Bachelor, Beauty & the Geek type shows, but I love shows that pit people against each other in competitions. Big Brother is my favourite. Shut up.

Tonight I watched a recorded episode of Celebrity Apprentice...the second of the season. The Donald is grasping at straws now, bringing C-level celebrities, and even some virtual unknowns (to me) onto the show. Omarosa's back. And she's still a bitch...gawd, I hate her. She's the most arrogant, useless piece of flotsam ever to hit TV. Gene Simmons is Omarosa with testicles. What a jerk.

The competition tonight was to create a 30-second TV spot for Pedigree Pet Foods' campaign to support animal shelters. They wanted to get people adopting pets - dogs in this case. I guess cats don't matter! Each team produced a pretty good spot. I liked the men's team's spot better, and so did The Donald. Olympic gold medalist Nadia Comenici (sp?), from the women's team, got fired.

They said that four million dogs per year get put into animal shelters, but only two million get adopted into new homes. They didn't need to mention that the other two million get euthenized. They wanted to encourage viewers to consider adopting shelter dogs.

While I was watching the show, I had a flash of inspiration for my own TV spot. Picture this:

Four dogs walking around and around in a circle around two dog houses. Tinkly toy music is playing in the background...sounds like a toy piano playing a sad song. Doggy musical chairs. Suddenly the music stops and two of the dogs dash into the two doghouses, leaving the other two standing there. Closeup of the two dogs' faces, looking mournful and a little afraid, turning toward the sound of footsteps approaching from offscreen. Cut to the figure of a white-coated vet wearing a surgeon's mask, holding a syringe. Then a voice-over will come on and relate the statistics and say something entreating people to adopt a pet from a shelter. Fade to black.

Good eh?
