The Good, the Bad and the Ugly...
The Good: When I got to work this morning, the server was back up (THANK YOU, MANON!!) and the file I had been worrying about all night was FINE!
You know, if that had been a QuarkXPress file, it would have been toast. I've seen it happen before. Server disconnects while you have a file open, and after that, if you try to open it, you get "Unexpected end of file encountered." I'm loving InDesign more and more every day I use it. It's stable, graceful, fast...and I've only just begun to learn what it can do. In one way I'm glad I was forced to use it this week. I kept saying I'd sit down and go through the tutorials when I had time. shhyeah...right. Who's got time to go for a piss let alone spend hours and hours on a tutorial? So even though this switch has and will continue to cost me a lot of hours in redoing stuff and the natural slowness of a new user, in the end, the job will get done and I will have learned a new program, which may just help me in my future goals.
The Bad: I'm still not 100% sure if I can get all the work I have to do done by the deadline...or that the other people involved will either.
The Ugly: The look Bugsy gave me when I walked in late again this evening.
