Spare parts, excess baggage and tying loose ends

Well, I'm no longer an entirely organic lifeform. Went in to the dentist today and got a partial crown installed in one of my molars. Top left side. It was a completely painless and unstressful procedure, right from the needle, which I didn't even really feel, to the very last whir of the drill.

I guess my tooth had become weak after years of being drilled and hollowed. The dentist was afraid it would crack soon, so he recommended this. He just removed all the old filling and stuff and replaced it with this little custom-made thingy that he snapped in just like a spare part. lol. A little cement, a little shaping, and it was done. Easy.

Till I went to pay for it. $880 bucks!! And my insurance will only cover half of it. It's a good thing I didn't have to pay rent this month, or I never would have been able to pay for it.

So the left side of my face won't move yet. I look like someone who's had a stroke when I try to smile or anything. Weird. But it's better than that awful dead lip you get when you get a bottom tooth frozen. I hate that. You feel like you're drooling all the time.

Things are coming along with the packing. I've decided to let the movers take care of some of the awkward stuff. I'm not going to stress over it. Plus I'm getting a bit of help from Tonia this weekend. I'll try and get all the junk together into bags and then she and I can haul it all down to the dumpster in the back when she comes. Did the bathroom last night. Going to tackle the bedroom tonight. The storage closet tomorrow maybe. My stress level over packing is out of proportion with the amount of work I have to do. I just have to take it one step at a time and not get worked up about it. But I'll be damn happy when this is all finished!

Arranged to shut off my cable and phone today. Might have to do a bit of finagling about my cell phone account. The company pays for it, but I'm not sure if my local office will continue to pay it, or if I'll have to get the Nova Scotia office to take it over. One more pain in the butt. And hey! I get to do all this again in less than a year! LOL. There better be lots of fancy dinners in this for me, I'm tellin ya!

I've decided not to get a land-line phone. I'll just use the cell for everything. I hardly ever get calls at home, and hopefully I'll have my own phone at work, so I don't really need a land-line at home. The landly is arranging to have my high-speed cable internet and digital cable tv installed, so that should be all set up fine by the time I get there. I hope. I don't want to be offline for any longer than a day.

So that's it for now. My moving update. More soon when there's anything to report.
